Hobbies:

Study all the time. Had 2 child development centers for 7 years and decided to go to Law School after finishing up my Masters Degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology. I have 2 great kids. Dijonnae is president of her class, cheerleader, national honor society, and is going to 9th grade without ever missing a day of school. My son just graduated from Holy Cross Catholic School. Next year will be his first year in public school. He also has perfect attendance since pre-k. He is awesome in all sports and the "man of the house" now that my husband works in Afghanistan. I have a great husband. He supports everything I want to do. Maybe I am insane for going attempting to finish up my Law Degree so late in life but I have really high expectations for my children and I feel that I cannot expect them to accomplish anything I never took the time to accomplish myself. Law School is so difficult. Being very involved with everything my children do makes it a lot more difficult because I am really busy all the time. My husband is working in Afghanistan so that I do not really have to work and just concentrate on my studying. I am so blessed that my family supports me in going back to school. I am so determined to finish. Both my children talk about going to Law School one day. I would love to practice law with both my children one day. I am hoping my husband will also pursue a law degree so that we can all work together one day.

School Story/Memory:

I guess the thing I remember the most about school is outright hating it. I study so much now that I am in my 2nd year in Law School and I love every minute of it. It is amazing how a person can grow to love something they once dreaded. I am so dedicated and try really hard to get straight A's. I plan to get my PHD in Criminology after I graduate from Law School. It has always been a dream of mine to be Dr. Belinda Ariel Hernandez-James.

When you left high school, what did you think you would be doing 20 years later?

I started working on a Biology Degree when I first graduated from High School. I thought I wanted to go to medical school but then I had my daughter. I switch my major to criminal justice. Graduated with my Bachelors in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. At the time I had my child development center and I started working on my masters in Sociology with an emphasis in criminology. After I got my masters I decided I wanted to go to Law School. I built a second center in Wharton, Texas and had a big fall out with the partners. It was a beautiful 1.5 million dollar project and after 7 years of planning this it all blew up in my face because we just got too big. Between both centers we were licensed to care for over 400 children and I was really stressed out and practically going crazy. Me and my husband were 2 of the 4 partners and all 4 of us were fighting everyday. 6 months after the new center opened I got accepted to Law School. I had to make a decision. A very successful business or my Law Degree? I think God puts things in front of a person for a reason. It did not matter how much money we were making.........my final education goal was more important. We gave it all up!!!! We were in financial hell for a while but now that my husband works in Afghanistan for KBR we are going to be O.K. I can stay home and study and tend to my children. I do work very part time but only if my school schedule allows it. School comes first. 20 years ago..............I hated school. It is ironic that I am now back in Law School and loving every minute of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where would you build your dream vacation home?

In Brazil or Madrid Spain
