Ralph Howard Young

Ralph Howard Young, 58, of Arlington, Texas and formerly of Crystal Lake, Illinois, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, in Texas.

He was born April 18, 1943, in Chicago, to Howard George and Hazel Viole (Dunk) Young. On Dec. 29, 1962 he married Sandra Benson at the First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake.

He attended Bradley University and ITT Technical Institute, studying engineering. He was a 1961 graduate of Crystal Lake Community High School.

His hobbies included woodworking, computers, photogaphy, riding motorcycles and boating. He was a former member of the Crystal Lake Jaycees.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy, of Texas: two children William (Carole) Young of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Kris (Ken) Kucera of Rancho Cucamonga, CA.; two grandchildren, Bradley and Matthew Kucera: his father, Howard (Joy)Young of Woodstock; four siblings, Pat Blair of Michigan, Richard Young of AZ, Kris Young and Jason Young both of Illinois; three nieces; and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his mother Hazel, in 1969.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.

The service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, at The First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake, with the Rev. Arn Schaper officiating. Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
