This one is kind of a shock. I think Steve kept in touch on this site more than any other class member. He was still extending birthday wishes at the end of last month.

So sorry to hear about the passing of one of the good guys.

So sad to get this news.  Steve was the best and a fellow Californian.  When we would keep in touch on FB he would always say, if you get up to Redding do stop by to see us.  He will be missed.  Definitely will raise a toast to him.  RIP Steve.

Oh,how very sad this is. Steve has been a dear friend since high school. I was lucky to be able to visit him and Trish a few years ago.

I know that it has been several days since Steve’s passing, and I too mourn his loss. But I think back to the last time I was in his presence. It was at the 50-year reunion, and we and several other classmates were waiting for the tour of the high school. In that short time together I felt that I got to know Steve a little better. His acknowledgement of so many birthdays was his way to stay in touch with many of us classmates. So I take this time to share what I feel would be a message that I gained with him about life. Ben Schroeder

The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth is sad indeed,
To lose one's health is more,
To lose one's soul is such a loss
That no man can restore.

The present only is our own,
So Live, Love, toil with a will --
Place no faith in 'Tomorrow' --
For the clock may then be still.

I echo those comments and statements of those who have already commented about Steve's passing.  He was a great guy who sent everyone a birthday wish.  We have toasted his passing as a loss to all of us and we wish his family the very best in the future.  Craig Haase
