In Memory

Twain Woodruff

Not too many details.  Returned to MN.  Became a writer/poet.  Passed away during the 2000s.  Sure loved his hockey!  Miss you TWAIN.  R.I.P.   Flick

Twain's obituary is very brief and reads:

"Twain was born on May 3, 1947 and passed away on Friday, June 26, 2009.  Twain was a resident of Eveleth, Minnesota."

Twain will be forever in my head because my head still bears the scar of an errant slap shot he made during a free skating session in the Deerfield rink when I was a sophomore.  We weren't looking at each other as I was going along the boards concentrating on stick handling and he let fly one of his classic slap shots (that always went too high).  I felt this thunk on my head and I stopped with a few horrified fellow skaters staring at me as blood starting gushing down my face.  There was no pain except on Twain's face as he quickly apologized.  A few stitches at the infirmary and I was fine except for the dent in my scalp.  As my baldness takes over my head, I keep waiting for Twain's mark to appear.

Although we were never close friends, I thought he was a good guy.  Sorry that he left our class early and went back to Minnesota (?)  R.I.P. Twain.  You are forever on my mind.
