Mary Elaine Halsted, 58, passed away June 3, 2004 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center from complications of pneumonia. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Des Moines with burial to follow in Glendale Cemetery.

Mary was born October 13, 1945 in Tacoma, WA and lived in the Des Moines area all of her life. She was a homemaker and had worked for the Diocese of Des Moines in the Chancery office. Mary enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Kristy Westphal; sister, Elizabeth (Perry) Schmitt, both of Urbandale; two grandchildren, Elaine and Ash Westphal; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation begins after 3 p.m. today at Westover Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5 until the 7 p.m. Vigil Service. Memorials can be made to the Arthritis Foundation Iowa Chapter.
