Steve was my best friend and neighbor.  I think he had the most potential of any of us.  I often think of how differently our lives turned out and 'but for the grace of God' there go I.  Jim Nyman.

I was not aware  that Steve had passed. We were confirmed together at  the Congregational Church in Edina. He was a stand up guy. I remember that  he was a standout member of the track team .  I'm sorry to here of his passing.

So many of us were "late bloomers," and therefore hardly felt as if we knew who we were in high school.  But I always thought of Steve as a more mature guy than most of us.  He was always a gentleman and nice to everyone, and he was very good at so many different things, including sports and academics.  I miss him.

I was a transfer student at Edina High in 1964. I met quite a few "kids"in my first year there but Steve Sanford was an exceptionally welcoming young man who knew it wasn't easy transitioning into Edina High.   He had the manners of a dignified, grown man, quite unlike the usual!!     Steve was an "independent."    He didn't just do the "cool thing" expected from a young man from Edina.   He ran track, oh! my goodness!   He was ahead of all of us when it came to being a genuine person. He was respected by all who knew him.   He had a gift; he was true to himself.    I am saddened that he is no longer with us.  Surely, he is missed by his family, his friends as well as all of us.  My sincere condolences to all. Yes, he is missed.   UNforgettable.
