Pretty hum-drum... I was the last of four with a father, who was a cop and a mom, who worked for the school systems... imagine how much fun that can be? Anyway, they were dead set on me NOT getting into trouble like my brothers, so I was at home most of the time... For the most part, I was known at Burges as "Toby Mejia's buddy", which I proudly adapted to. :)
Went to UT after graduation - literally 2 weeks after the ceremony. Went to UT for four years, but go the opportunity to tour with a rock band with Toby Mejia that toured nationally that even took us to Hawaii and Alaska, so dropped out of school and I never finished... Ugh... Got married to a wonderful person named Sunny in 1996 but was very amicably divorced in '99 - too much of an age difference (she was 9 years my senior). Throughout, I have been a Recruiter in both corporate and agency environments. Currently work for Cisco Systems. After my divorce, I took a job in Boston at Monster.com and lived there for a year (too cold). When your dog is looking at you like we're crazy being out here, it's time for a change. Was a Director of Staffing at Global Crossing and moved to San Jose, CA in 2000. California is definitely my type of place! Moved to San Francisco in 2003 and I have been here ever since. Perform weekly here in the city and love it here. I play in a band called Paper Giants, which is a group of guys that I've become best friends with - we perform all original material. You can check out music at http://www.myspace.com/rikavalosband -I also do a weekly acoustic show and a 90's cover band called "Feeling Minnesota", which is a lot of fun.
Would love to catch up with all of you.
