I Currently live in Lowgap, NC (near MT. Airy) I have a communications business providing Data, Voice, Telecom and Audio Video solutions. I work just about anywhere I find customers. Mostly Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Statesville, and now one in Asheville.
After high school I went to AB Tech for 2 years in Electronics Engineering. Just before finishing, I joined the Air Force and spent 20 years doing everything from Navigational systems to Satellite Telemetery. Got to spend a year and a half in the outback of Australia, and several years in Colorado Springs. I retired in '99 and bought a home in Lowgap. I went to work for a Communications firm, and then after 9-11, I was asked to go back to Colorado Springs as a military contractor. In 2004 I quit that job and started my own business back home. In Feb 2010 (while handing out business cards) I was offered an engineering job at an Industrial R & D company. That was good for about 6 months. Back on my own now.
In '77 I married Kathy (a girl I met while working at Ingles) and acquired a ready made family with April, her 2 1/2 year old daughter. Mitch Jr. was born in '78 and then Joshua in '80. April now lives in Homestead Fla, and the boys are still at home? What's up with that? I think Mitch Jr. is allergic to work, and Josh has just been diagnosed with Crohns Disease. He had a double resection in March and seems to be doing a lot better now.
I haven't managed to keep up with people from the past. While in the military, it was like I didn't exist. I didn't get back to Candler even for a visit until '93. Now I get out there from time to time.
I really love the mountains of WNC and would like to get back there. I remember a lot of good times and look forward to meeting everyone.
