Roger was a lot of fun but he always seemed so serious.  He could definitley enjoy a party though.  Enjoyed his friendship and especially enjoyd knowing him.  Great guy!!!

It was so entertaining to have a locker next to my cousin, Tom Welle!  Roger, Gene Bies, Tim Cavanaugh, and Fran Mauer were always finding something amusing about what was going on at FFHS.  They were funny and adventurous live wires enjoying themselves.

Roger was a great friend  and I could write volumes about our escapades.  I really get excited when i think back on all the great memories I have.  We will be visiting Rogers grave tomorrow morning and I will tell some stories there.  We were life long friends from 2nd grade on.  We spent countless hours at the Fleming home on west summit shooting baskets and racing around the neighborhood.  His folks were so kind to all his friends.  Rog was a strong minded and willed person.  He could do almost anything he set his mind on and do it well.  I loved the guy.  I miss him and lorts of others that left us to soon.

Gary Mayer, Roger, Jay Stanghelle and I had our 'fort' in Roger's back yard;  we'd trap muskrats, gophers, and cut grass to make money;  Roger and I watched the northern lights from their roof, and made stink bombs in the basement;  we'd take live gophers down there, for 'training', but they'd get loose, and Roger's mom would get upset!

Roger once put a gas motor on his bike, (thanks to help from Larson's welding shop), and he'd tow me out to Pebble Lake, so we could salvage clay pigeons;  we'd sell them to our dads for a penny apiece;

Roger's mom always made us feel welcome!   the Flemings had one of the first TV's, and a great apple tree in the back yard, but Roger's mom would always ask us to 'partner' with girls in her ballet classes, (we NEVER did!)

Roger really liked coming out to our OTL cabin, so they bought their own cabin, on Swan Lake;

I heard that Roger flew choppers in Viet Nam, (2 tours?), and never got a scratch;   later, he flew a lear jet into a cloud full of rocks!  I talked to his mom after the funeral, and his widow wrote me a long letter;
