David Hegg, Bob Blegstad, Doug Thompson and I took off from FF the day after JFK was killed, drove Daves VW bug to Red Lodge MT. and climbed Granite Peak (where I presently live), the highest mountain in Montana.  I have left a picture of the 4 of us on Mt. Everest, Mt. Elbrus, Mt. Aconquaua, and last year on Granite Peak to honor these wonderful friends like Dave & Doug who have left us with such fun memories.  Like Doug Thomspn and Byron Stock and many other who have left our class of 64 WAY too early, may you all be remembered and thank all of you for the memories.

Thanks Whimpy for your insightful comments - we all appreciate that you took the time to write them.

Anyone else is invited to share memories of our class.......

I don't remember to much about David Hegg, except,he was good in sports.

BUT I do remember Doug Thompson. I think,it was the summer following 7th grade.I remember going down to the Athletic Park & signing up for summer baseball. Oats LeGrand was the organizer.Leonard Rendz was one of the umpires.Anyway,I was on a team with Doug & his brother Gene. Doug was our catcher,he was pretty darn good,to say the least. He caught just about eveything that was thrown to him. I played,RF or LF most of the time.He was a funny guy, always had something to say & he seemed to like baseball. I can't remember if Gene played 1st base or what. I remember, after some of the games,we would go up to his place, talk, listen to a few "old" records & just relax. It seemed like he lived on North Union,on the right side of road going north. They lived in a "big" old,2 story house, maybe 2 or 3 houses north of the railroad bride, kinda at the top of the "hill". Those were fun times, not a care in the world. The 50's & 60's,what a wonderful time to grow up.

Dan,

Believe it or not, that house that Doug and Gene lived in used to be the Fergus Falls Public Library.

Little trivia.

WOW!!  I NEVER knew that. I guess growing up in Fergus, the library we remember, was the one on the side of a hill, off of Union Ave,just a couple of buildings up from the bowling alley[owned or run by Mr.Ross]. Fergus was a great town back "then",but I wouldn't live there now.Later.
