Douglas Caldwell

Reside in Ludington in the summer and Myrtle Beach in the winter.

Married in 1971 to Roelfien (Julie) Timmermans. We decided early on not to have children. Lived in Mattawan (just west of Kalamazoo) from 1971 through 1977. Moved to San Diego and lived there for 20 years. Then lived in Ashville, North Carolina, until I retired in 2003.

When living in Mattawan (Michigan) I worked for Brunswick repairing computers for bowling centers throughout Michigan. In San Diego (California) in the 1980s I was a real estate broker selling foreclosure properties that were taken back by the banks. In Asheville I worked for OfficeMax selling personal computers.

My hobby now is as a Wikipedia editor.

I edit under the Wikipedia name " User: Doug Coldwell ". Who would have imagined that a person that barely graduated from High School would be an editor for an encyclopedia.

My first hobby after I retired was doing my family history genealogy. Genealogy is addictive!

I went to Flushing schools from Mrs. Dyball's kindergarden class in 1950 through the second grade. If I am not mistaken I started in her class the same day she started teaching the kindergarten class. It would be interesting to ask her if she remembers a little boy starting in her class the same day she started. Our family moved a lot that year and this was my fourth kindergarden class. I passed!

I then attended Flint Beckwith school (non extant) by Clio Road and Pearson Road from the third grade though the sixth grade. Starting again in the seventh grade we moved back to Flushing. I attended the seventh and eighth grade in the Field House in back of the Elementary School. The ninth and tenth grade were back in the building I started in Kindergarden, which is now Flushing Community Services. The eleventh and twelfth grade were in the "new" Flushing Senior High School which opened in 1962. In 1963 I attended DeVry Technical School in Chicago for one year.

It would be interesting to find out who all started in Mrs. Dyball's kindergarden class that graduated from Flushing Senior High School.
