Mary Jo Sullivan Schulte

I’ve lived in Illinois, Florida, Michigan, Florida and back to Illinois. Worked as a RN on a surgical floor from 72-76, worked in the OR from76-03 and 05-06. Traveled with family and traveled with my husband in a twin engine plane while he was getting his multi engine rating back in 1978. We went from Peoria, IL to Canada, Greenland , Iceland and finally to Prestwick Scotland where we left the plane and traveled down to England. The plane belonged to the couple we traveled with. They were both pilots and instructors and it had always been something Max wanted to do. It was an uneventful flight there but the return flight over the North Atlantic had some harrowing experiences. I was the only one without a pilot’s license although I had done some flying with my husband.

I was pretty much a wall flower in school. I had friends but mostly went unnoticed. I was never very coordinated but enjoyed being active and reading. I was on the yearbook for a year and liked to do crazy things. I never drank in high school but sometimes people thought I was drunk because of how crazy I liked to be. I said I would like to do the first brain transplant but that never happened. I still have an odd sense of humor which my grandsons really don’t appreciate. I remember when a friend from the class ahead of us let a mouse loose in the class next door and their was a lot of screaming and everyone was wondering what was going on. It was in Sister Innocence’s class I believe. I shared what was happening with Carolyn Rolow. I also remember when Harry Hanig took my car over to FDHS with his keys that fit my car and drove by the school and honked while I was in class. He didn’t have my permission or approval. It was my 53 brown 2 door Chevy.
