Janine was such a special person! Most of her classmates didn't know that she had Cystic Fibrosis, an inherited disease that causes thick, sticky mucus to form in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. She had to take many pills everyday just to be able to breathe and digest her food. She didn't want most people to know she had a terminal illness because she didn't want them to feel bad for her. Many people just knew she coughed a lot and had to miss quite a bit of school (for hospitalizations). She was sweet, funny, and had a feisty side. Those of us who were lucky enough to be included in her small circle know that it was tragic that her life was cut so short. She is missed!
