Velvet A. Jackson, 53, of Fort Pierce, FL passed away on Sunday April 5, 2015 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.
She was born on August 8, 1961 in Fort Pierce, FL a native of Saint Lucie County. Velvet attended the public schools of Saint Lucie County and a graduate of the 1st Class of Westwood High Class of 1979.
She was a member of Fresh Wind and Fresh Fire where she served as Praise Team Leader. Velvet was employed with Saint Lucie County School Board as a school bus driver.
Survivors include her husband, Woodrow Jackson of Fort Pierce, FL; sons, Warren Jackson of Manchester, KY; Jeffery Jackson of Vero Beach, FL; daughters, Gwendolyn Sherman (Charles) of Fort Pierce, FL; LaDetra Johnson of Port Salerno, FL; mother, Sarah Lawson of Fort Pierce, FL; father, Benjamin Oliver; brothers, Kenneth Lawson, James Lawson, Terry Wyche, Michael Wyche, Ernest Wyche of Fort Pierce, FL; Ricky Lawson of Apalachicola, FL; eighteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 3 to 7PM Friday April 17, 2015 at Stone Brothers Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1:30PM Saturday April 18, 2015 at Saint Mark’s Missionary Baptist Church, 921 Orange Avenue, Fort Pierce. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
