In the way of a personal update, in 58 I decided to attend college; contrary to the recommendations of the school counselor. After 4 years of quasi-delinquency at South Side, I only expected to last a semester or so at IU. Anyway, I quickly decided that college was an attractive alternative to work and ultimately graduated from IU law school. Although I am a member of the Indiana bar, I practiced in Fort Lauderdale for 20 years until retiring to the mountains of North Carolina in 1987. We had a 25 acre place in Highlands with cattle, horses and an array of other wildlife. That grew tiresome after 10 years, so we selected Colorado Springs as our next place to live and moved here in 1997.
Backing up a bit, in 1971, I married my one and only wife. She was Miss Ft. Lauderdale 1970 and 11 years younger than I. She really caught my eye! Our 3 children (36, 35 and 30) are all still single. So, unfortunately, no grandchildren yet, although hope springs eternal. Our 2 sons live in Colorado Springs whereas our daughter roams the world (literally).
Although I sometimes hunt and ski, my major recreational interest for many years has been motorcycles. My oldest son shares this interest and we have ridden untold miles throughout the U.S. Our most adventurous trip (3 years ago) was a jaunt to northern California and down the Pacific coast highway; 3800 miles in 14 days. I’m still recovering.
And finally, and most importantly, in 1971, I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior which totally transformed and reoriented my life. Throughout the years I have been privileged to have been involved on the boards of numerous Christian ministries. Of my life experiences, my participation in these ministries has been the most gratifying.
