Mark Broom

Once I graduated High School i attended the University of Southern Mississippi on a baseball scholarship. I suffered a devastating arm injury while pitching that ended my career abruptly. However, I finished college with a major in Physical Education and a minor in Business Administration. I applied with Halliburton and attended Engineering school in Houston, Tx where I graduated top of class and that allowed me to move up quickly through the company. I have recently started a company, TRAIN LIKE PROS, LLC. I will open the company sometime in the near future where I will emphasize in a Christian walk while competing in sports. I am extremely excited about the company. During my senior year of high school God called me into the youth ministry, where I did not accept the calling. I wanted the glamorous life of Professional baseball. God saw fit to take that opportunity away and use me another way. Not until the last year of my life have I surrendered to God's calling and I will use my Athletic gifts to help minister to today's youth. That is way more rewarding than glamour and fame. I have endless memories of my time at West Marion. It ranges from childhood friends, such as Eric Verdin knocking my tooth out in grade school while we were playing Basketball, to competing in sports bringing national recognition to our school and sport. I remember going on conventions to the Gulf Coast for National Honor Society and Beta Club. The weekends got interesting as we got old enough to get our license. There is not much to do in Foxworth, Ms but this country boy sure found a way to make those country roads take on a whole new meaning. LOL! I am thankful for the memories at West Marion and thankful for the competition that our class had with each other. I love competition, I played with passion on the baseball and football field, but it did not stop there. The top ten in the class were just as competitive as the guys on the field. I remember being in Chemistry class before every test telling Crystal Smith that I was going to fail the test. I would Ace every test and get the bonus. It was fun acting like I was in trouble then posting the top score in that class. When it came to Math and Sciences the competitor came out in me. However, I was not as well rounded as Crystal Smith and Jackie Foxworth. The memories go on and on. I could tell locker room stories one after another but I'll save it for a book. LOL! God bless to all the class mates and may God lead you in every step of your life. Remember the reason we were created, to have a personal relationship with GOD on a day-to-day basis. Everything you do and plan to do take it to God and let him direct you. He can do it way easier than you can. Strive for Galatians 5:22 and let God begin to take complete control of your life and you will find freedom in your life.
