Regina “Gina” Dannhaus Layton departed this life on August 10, 2005, with her loving family and friends by her side. She was born January 25, 1952, and was a lifelong resident of Brazoria County.
Regina graduated from Brazosport High School in 1970. Upon graduation, she attended Baylor/Methodist School of Radiology, and upon graduation she was employed at Methodist Hospital in the newly formed Cardiac Cath Lab for 10 years. After that, she was employed for local orthopedic surgeons Dr. Thompson and Dr. Hoffman for 10 years. Last employment was with TDCJ/UTMB Correctional Managed Care.
Her father, Carl Gormey, and her grandparents precede Regina in death.
Regina is survived by her parents, Lee and Laura Dannhaus of Sargent; her son, Chace Layton of Humble; her companion for the past six years, Larry Wildrix; his two sons, Mark and Mike Wildrix of Humble; her sister and brother-in-law, Larenda and Henry Nicar of Lake Jackson; her brother, Tommy Dannhaus of Rosharon; nephews, Harley Nicar and wife, Dana, and Brent Brannan; nieces, Nikia Jacobs and husband, John, Michelle Brannan, Theresa Easterling and husband, Terry, Susan Mertick and family; one great-niece, Emma Jacobs; uncles, Harvey Dannhaus and wife, Wilma, and Daniel Dannhaus and wife, Frances, Lynn Gormey; aunts, Betty McCune and Tommie Ann Green; and many cousins.
Regina was a wonderful free spirit who loved life, and all who knew her loved her. She always had a smile, even during the most difficult time of her illness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family has such admiration and pride in her son, Chace, who was by her side through this illness, encouraging and caring for her.
A memorial service will be led by Katrina Dannhaus Packard on Saturday, August 20, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton.
