Norman Dean

Norman C. Dean, 63, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2015, in New Braunfels, TX. He was born on April 26, 1952, in Lubbock, TX.

 Norman grew up in Lake Jackson and graduated from Brazosport High School in 1970. He received his BA from the University of Houston, completing his education at South Texas College of Law, where he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence. He practiced law for five years in Houston before moving to New Braunfels to start a private practice.

In 1982, Norman married Hope Whitehall in Houston. They were happily married for 33 years and have two children, Wesley and Renee. He was a devoted father who enjoyed fishing, camping, coaching girls’ softball, and being a Scout Master.

Norman was his extended family’s “go-to” guy, generously giving advice and counsel whenever called upon. He was very competitive when playing 42 at family gatherings and considered himself the family champion.

Norman continued to practice law in New Braunfels for thirty-three years. He preferred being in the courtroom to being in his office. He was proficient in family law, mediation, and personal injury cases.

Norman was preceded in death by his father, Norman L. Dean; and mother, Iris.

Norman is survived by his wife, Hope; son, Wesley (Sarah) Dean; and granddaughter, Abby, of New Braunfels; daughter, Renee Dean, of New Braunfels .  He is also survived by step-mom, Ann Dean, of Lake Jackson; sister, Kathy (Robert) Riggle, of Arlington; brother, David (Barbara) Dean, of Round Rock; sister, Angela (Tom) Byargeon, of Houston; sister, Janice (Steve) Freemen, of Lake Jackson; sister, Jeanna Rosser, of Irving; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norman’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels at 2:00 p.m.
