Gerald Eugene Murphy, 64 of Madisonville, Texas, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at home. Funeral services are set for 10:00 A.M., Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Madisonville Funeral Home. Rev. Lloyd Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ten Mile Cemetery on FM 2289 near Normangee. There will be a visitation from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 10th at the funeral Home.   Gene was born on September 30, 1951 in Houston, Texas to Gerald and Nelda Murphy. He lived most of his life in Freeport and moved to Madisonville in 1997. Gene attended the Madisonville Christian Fellowship Church. He worked for Dow Chemical as an electrician for many years. He also worked for Britt Rice Electrical in Bryan and for Patterson UTI drilling company.     Gene served with United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was active in the American Legion Post # 84 in Madisonville. His passion was riding his Harley Davidson, trail riding and watching NASCAR racing on TV.  Gene was preceded in death by his farther Gerald Murphy and his daughter, Shyne Lorraine Murphy. He is survived by his mother, Nelda Ruth Murphy of Madisonville; his wife, Roberta Murphy of Madisonville; son John Zackary Murphy of Midway; step- son, Danny Ray Fleming of Houston; step-daughter, Ashley Winningham of Houston; brother Kenneth Murphy of Panama City, Florida; mother-n-law & father-in-law, Robbie and Dorothy Tadlock of North Zulch; four step-grandchildren, Vadin Luther Tadlock, Alexis Olivia Dotch, Danny Ray Fleming III and Chancellor Aubrey Fleming. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.   Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
