RICKEY LYNN QUARLES

AUGUST 21, 1951 - AUGUST 24, 2011

Ricky Lynn Quarles peacefully left this world August 24, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family in Sweeny, TX. Born in 1951, he was the son of the late Jack and Irene Quarles.

He worked in the construction industry as a Safety Specialist for about 20 years traveling to various places, sometimes pulling his travel trailer to a nearby RV park to reside in. He had a love of many sports as well as dealing with kids and with the two combined refereed and umpired for local football and softball games. At times he would even travel to state tournaments to do this. He touched many lives with his kind heart and his wonderful sense of humor, always trying to make someone laugh. In his spare time he loved doing things outside anything from playing horseshoes and volleyball, floating in his tube in water, to hanging out at the beach with family and friends. He was a very loving, caring, and dedicated family man not only to his two daughters and wife but also to his three grandkids, who referred to him as "Papa".

He is survived by his wife, Beth Quarles; his daughters, Cristal Quarles and Ricki Jenkins and husband, Travis; and his grandchildren, Ma'rya Quarles, Kobe Gardner and Tristyn Gardner.

The family will receive friends at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 4 - 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 29, 2011, with Charles Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery.
