Regina Wier VIEW PROFILE

August 4, 1974

A 23-year-old Oyster Creek woman and a 22-year-old Freeport woman died early Sunday in a car-truck accident near Sweeny at the intersection of FM 522 and FM 1462 that also injured two others.
 
Pronounced dead at the scene were Linda Jean Merriman, of Route 2, Oyster Creek, and Regina Wier, of 1118 W Sixth St. Freeport .
 
The double fatality occurred at 1:53 a.m. Sunday when the Merriman 1965 Chevrolet collided with a 1970 Ford pickup truck driven by Leslie Lee Fortenberry, 21, of Sweeny….
 
Details on how the accident occurred were not available from the local office of the Texas Department of Public Safety or its regional dispatch communications center in Houston ….
 
Currently a student at Brazosport College , Miss Wier had been a past sweetheart of the Stick Club of Company I, 131st Infantry. She graduated from Brazosport High School in 1970.
 
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, at 2 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Bishoff officiating. Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Park .
 
Miss Wier’s survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reginald M. Wier; one brother, John Dan Wier of El Toro , Calif. ; one sister Darlene Wier of Freeport ; and her grandmother, Mrs. Thomas E. Martin of Pasadena .
 
Service arrangements are being handled by Freeport-Lakewood Funeral Homes, Inc.
