Rodney Wooster

Rodney Wooster reported to his heavenly home on Friday, September 15, 2006,  Ge died of a sudden heart attack at Brazosport Regional Health System in Lake Jackson, Texas

Rodney was born on December 24, 1951, at the Dow Chemical Hospital in Velasco, Texas.  He was the oldest child of Harry "Cotton' and Florine Montgomery Wooster.  Rodney grew up on North Acenue G in Velasco, Texas, where he had a very happy and adventurous childhood.  He enjoyed saltwater fishing, water skiing on the Old Brazos River, and many other carefree things that children growing up in the 1950's and  1960's enjoyed doing.  Rodney was part of the AMIGOA organization that went to Central America during three summers while he was in high school.  Rodney participated in the AMIGOS as a way to minister to the people of Central America, and it gave him a lot of joy doing it.  Rodney graduated from Brazosport High School 1970.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army in August 1971, following  only a month behind his brother Dennis and good friend Benny Notgrass, who volunteered for the draft in July 1971.  Rodney served 17 months in Thailand as a part of the medics.  Rodney earned two Vietnam ribbons for flying to rescue Special Forces in Vietnam.  Rodney was emplowyed by Chevron.

Rodney is survived by wife and soulmate of 32 years, Arleeda Wooster of Clute.  He is also survived by his father, Harry L. "Cotton" Wooster of Freeport, Texas.  He is survived by his children, Soraya Whitney and husband, Paul, of Atlanta Georgia, Marlena Riley and husband, Patrick, of Lake Jackson and Jennifer Rusling and husband, Aaron, of Shreveport, Louisana.  His precious grandchildren, Michael and Macie Riley, also survive him.  Rodney is survived by his siblings, Michelle Lippold and husband, Hank of Freeport and Toby Wooster and wife, Connie of Virginia.  He is also survived by sister-in-law Ginger Wooster.  He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives that loved him very much.

Rodney is precede in death by his beloved mother, Florine Wooster, and his brother Dennis Wooster.

Funeral services wil be at 2 p.m.  Tuesday at Chapelwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wesley Welborn officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jim Welch.

Pallbearers will be Toby Wooster, Paul Whitney, Patrick Riley, Aaron Rusling, James Lippold, Andy Wooster, Luke Wooster, Peter Wooster, Josh Wooster, Adam Wooster and Benny Notgrass.

Rodney was an awesome guy. We lost touch after high school. My condolences to his family.
