Betty Knipping


 

Betty Louise Spencer Knipping, 83, of Jones Creek, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Clear Lake Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving daughters.

She was born December 3, 1927, in Freeport, Texas to Ida Bertha Spencer and Jefferson (Jack) M. Spencer. She graduated from Freeport High School and University of Texas John Sealy College of Nursing in Galveston. She was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Carl George Knipping; one brother, Jack Spencer Jr.; and one sister, Danielle Spencer Harding.

She is survived by three daughters, Claire Knipping Davis and husband, Timothy Luke Davis III, of Foxborough, Massachusetts, Lisa Knipping Gonzales, of Friendswood, Texas, Susan Knipping Roberts, of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Erin Davis Young, Dr. Cristin Davis Stapler and husband, Capt. Sean Stapler, Caitlin Davis, Brady Lane Burnett Jr. and wife, Christy, Laura Michelle Gonzales, Ernest (Trey) William Gonzales III, and Brennen Phillip Roberts; two great-grandchildren, twins, Braden and Nathan Young; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 5 tol 8 p.m. Friday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Gulf Prairie Cemetery with Deacon Wallace Shaw officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Betty’s memory to the University of Texas Scholarship Fund.
