November 1951

– May 9, 2014

Clifford Wayne Sweat, 62, passed peacefully away from natural causes after prolonged illness on May 9 at University Pines Retirement Home in Pensacola, Florida.

He was born in November 1951 in Freeport, Texas to Raymond Sweat and Margaret Reneau. Clifford grew up in Freeport where he attended Brazosport High School. Later he attended Austin Community College and it was in Austin that he established his business as a builder. Clifford was a skilled craftsman and brilliant man and will be remembered for his quick smile and caring heart.

Some of his fondest memories were of the thousands of miles traveled while kayaking down the rivers and streams of the Canadian Rockies, alone with God and His creation. He was also an avid fisherman and could angle with the best. He took great pride in his 25+ years of involvement in AA, reaching out and mentoring others in need, loving his neighbor as himself. He leaves a legacy of unconditional love and acceptance as testament of his Saviors mercy.

Clifford is survived by his daughter Jean Ouijan Krecker; brothers Robert Sweat of Pensacola, Florida and Donald Sweat of Milton, Florida; nieces and nephews consisting of Karen Romero of Sargent, Texas; Cindy Kolander of Angleton, Texas; Heather Luera of Richwood, Texas; Holly Smith of Oyster Creek, Texas; Robin Hall of Jacksonville, Florida; Heather Orlando of Pensacola, Florida; Georgia Williams of Pace, Florida; Makiah Sweat of West Palm Beach, Florida; Sierah Levins of Pensacola, Florida; Tekoah Sweat of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Austin Sweat of Milton, Florida; and Donald Sweat, Jr. of Milton, Florida. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Sweat and Margaret Reneau; and his sister Glenda Sweat Kanter Breazeale.

Deserving of special mention are Clifford’s close friends and caretakers Mary Baker and Beth Carthwright. Also, Emerald Coast Hospice is commended for the services they provided.

In respect of Clifford’s request that he be buried alongside his parents, a grave site memorial burial service will be held at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute, Texas on Thursday, May 15th at 2:00 p.m.
