Alfred was the person at GHS who could fix any piece of AV equipment.    I remember him "saving" a lot of 16 mm films for our teachers.    I thought about him when I had to take a course in AV at the W.....I could have used his help!

I thought you might enjoy this mention in an article about Alfred as a small boy...

One of the charming things about our American way of life is that any fond mother has a perfect right to hope that her little boy will grow up to be president of the U. S. A. And it can be done, even though the odds are somewhat one-sided. It has also been said that, if the little boy was born in a log-cagin, the odds are shortened perceptibly. The same thing used to apply to the presidential candidate's early struggle for an education. If he had to walk six miles to the schoolhouse, then said trek made a potent talking-point when he was "in the hustings."

Our young friend, Alfred W. Eckles, III, may indeed grow up to be president. But he won't be able to tell of any long walk he took to get his schooling. It is true that Alfred passes our house, every morning, on his way to St. Joseph's School. It is also a matter of record that the newly built Eckles home is a good mile and a half distant, in Henry Crosby's Legion Home addition. But Alfred doesn't hoof it. He rides instead behind his Daddy, on a bicycle which the senior Eckles pedals with his two stout legs.

We submit this little Item, some nine days in advance, as our thought for "Father's Day"...
