Charles David Tharp

PEORIA, Ariz. Funeral services for Charles D. Tharp, 58, of Peoria and formerly of Greenville, Miss., will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Apollo Baptist Church, Peoria. He died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. Burial will be in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona under the direction of Heritage Funeral Chapel, Peoria.

Mr. Tharp was a graduate of Greenville High School and attended Moorhead Junior College before entering the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the Air Force and was an aircraft mechanic and teacher. He was a member of the DAV, the Moose and the American Legion Post No. 1.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mable Tharp of Greenville; one brother, Richard Tharp; three infant sisters; and one granddaughter, Sierra Warner.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Michelle Warner of Salem, Ore., and Cathleen Davis of Surprise, Ariz.; two sons, Scott Tharp of Albany, Ore., and Stephen Thornburg of Farmland, Ind.; seven brothers, Billy Tharp of Greenwood, Miss., Cecil Tharp of James Crossing, Miss., Ronnie Tharp of Wayside, Miss., Gene Tharp and Wayne Tharp, both of Greenville, Miss., Gary Allan Tharp of Okolona, Miss., and Jimmy Tharp of McAllen, Texas; four sisters, Mary Cleo Fults of Conroe, Texas, Henrietta Lang of DeKalb, Miss., Grace Ann Kleespie of Greenville, Miss., and Sharon Joyce Shirey of Batesville, Miss.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Apollo Baptist Church.
