Cpl. Andrew L. White, Portage/Hessville  - Hammond Police Department Cpl. Andrew L. White, age 36, of Portage, IN, formerly of Hessville, IN, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007.  He is survived by his son, Joel White; mother, Joyce White and father, Nelson White, all of Hammond, IN; two uncles: Leslie (Deidre) Frederick of San Antonio, TX and Bruce White of Griffith, IN; fiancee, Sasha Veslievski of Portage, IN; former wife, Jill White, R.N., of Hammond, IN.  Mr. White was preceded in death by his grandparents: Andrew and Harriette Frederick; and canine pal, Roo.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 12, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 7132 Arizona, Hammond, IN with Rev. Charles Mosley officiating.  Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL.  Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at the Virgil Huber Funeral Home, 7051 Kennedy Ave., Hammond, IN and also Monday from 9:15 a.m. until time of service at the church.  Mr. White was currently employed as a Corporal in the Hammond Police Department and a member of the Hammond F.O.P. Lodge #51, who will hold services at 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening.  Mr. White was a graduate of Morton High School, Class of 1989 and a graduate of Indiana State University Class of 1993, with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steeler Football Fan.
