Kenda Lee Denison

Kenda Lee Denison, 69, Hays, died Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born December 13, 1953 at the naval hospital in Corona, California, the daughter of James and Barbara Lee (Henn) Wasinger.  She was a graduate of Marian High School in the class of 1972 and worked various jobs in healthcare.  On September 11, 1976, Kenda was united in marriage to William R. “Bill” Denison in Hays.  They celebrated over 43 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 1, 2020.  Kenda enjoyed hunting with Bill, bowling, dinner and drinks with her friends, and road trips with good music.  She was an amazing dancer, athletic, a runner who competed in half-marathons and 5Ks, and a proud grandma.

Survivors include her mother, Barbara Wasinger of Hays, a son, John Denison of Hays, a daughter, Jennifer Kohart and husband David of Lawrence, a brother James T. Wasinger of Pasadena, TX, and six grandchildren, Olivia and Hannah Kohart, Phoebe, Kash, Russel, and Gunner Denison.

She was preceded in death by her father, husband Bill, and sister, Lynn Hopkins.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Murray officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time.  Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County.  Condolences and memories of Kenda may be shared with her family at www.haysmemorial.com
