Pixie Root

Antioch Review death notice:

Reinholz, Susan Elaine "Pixie" Loving Mother, age 58, of Murphy, NC, was granted her angel wings on February 17, 2011. After fighting a tough battle with pancreatic cancer, her final days were spent surrounded by family who adored her. Survivors are her devoted husband of 37 years: Joseph Frank Reinholz; daughters: Lisa Enderle (Mark) and Katy Bost (Craig); sisters: Carol Schroeder, Nancy Jakob, Carol Salch and Rosemary Weber; brother: Michael Root; and her five grandchildren: Taete, Tanner, Chloe, Tommie and Christian. Pixie was born in Deerfield, Illinois on December 2, 1952, to Lyle and Hilda Root. She was a resident of Lake Forest, Illinois, for 20+ years before retiring to a log cabin in Murphy, NC where she merrily sang soprano in the choir at the First United Methodist Church. Pixie found joy in playing both piano and guitar, planting flowers, dining out with her husband and chatting on the phone daily with her daughters. Please consider making a donation in Pixie's honor to Girl Scouts of the USA,

www.girlscouts.org/support,

an organization that was near and dear to her heart because of the fulfilling time she spent as a troop leader.

My parents threw a surprise party for me when I turned 18.  My Mom had it worked out with Pixie that when everyone had arrived outside the house, she would puff madly on a cigarette as a signal and everyone would be let quietly into the house.  It worked like a charm!  Pixie had the sweetest disposition, she always had a smile on her face, she brought warmth into every room she entered.  She was with us for too short of a time.
