There are many things I remember about Susan because she was one of my best friends.   Although we attended school together just one year (8th grade), we remained friends throughout the rest of her life.  Not only was she my friend, she was a friend of my family and spent many days and nights in my home.  Susan became privy to some of our "unique language" that no one knows but "just the family."

Every thing that Susan did, she did with gusto!  She loved to laugh--boy, did she ever--to play softball, to do anything that was competitive, to sew, to quilt, to learn something new, to visit, etc., ad infinitum.  We had plans we had made much earlier for things we wanted to do together after we both retired.  Susan did many things, most of them exceptionally well.  One of the things she did when she was living in Venezuela was to teach herself shorthand in Spanish so she could get a job and become more independent.
