James Edward White

Obituary from Hugo News, 3/7/2017:

James Edward White, of Edmond, Okla., formerly of Hugo, passed away March 1,2017, at the age of 74.

James was born in Hugo on Feb. 14, 1943, to James Fowler White and Hazel Pauline White. He graduated from Hugo High School in May, 1961.

He started college at Southeastern State University, and was later drafted and entered the U.S. Army, Security and Intelligence, and served in Germany for four years. While in Germany he met his wife, Sigrid Evelyn Stingel. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2016.

After James completed his tour of duty, he and Eve made their home in Edmond, Okla., and he began his 30-plus year career with A.T.T. While working full time, he continued his education and completed his Bachelor of Business Administration at University of Central Oklahoma. He was especially proud that his wife and three children also completed their Bachelor degrees at UCO.

After his family, his greatest passion was the outdoors and all kinds of hunting, especially deer hunting, where he excelled. His love of hunting started as a young boy going with his father. He was pleased that his youngest grandson, Alex, seems to have inherited this same talent and passion. James' love of nature led him to become an excellent photographer, especially of nature, changing seasons and sunsets. He also has amazing carpentry and gardening skills.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dale White.

James is survived by his wife, Eve, of the home; his daughter, Sigrid Webb and Jimmy of Flower Mound, Texas; his son, Mike White and Dawn of Edmond, Okla.; his son, Dr. Mark White and Dr. Evette Budrich White of Oklahoma City and grandchildren: Garrett and Zach Webb of Denton, Texas, Alex Webb of Nacogdoches, Texas, and granddaughter, Anya White of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by brother, Donald White and sisters: Martha Short, Judy Clancy and Letha Loftin, all of Hugo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was a very kind, compassionate person. He made the world a better place. He will be missed.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
