I graduated from New College at the University of Alabama in 1992 with a degree in Environmental Studies. I was in and out of graduate school a few times in Tuscaloosa first studying geography and then anthropology. In 1996, I did a semester long Outward Bound course and have been with that organization in various different positions including Chief Sea Kayak Instructor and now Staffing Coordinator ever since. I met my wife there and during some breaks from Outward Bound we have lived in Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and spent a winter and spring running a kayak and sailing touring business in the Bahamas.
