I've known Robert Gunter since the 4th grade and everyone called him "Gunter". I think it was the 6th grade before I knew his name was Robert and not Gunter. He has always been good at sports, all of them, since he was a little boy. I remember watching him wrestle in High School when he hung around with Bobby McGee. Football too. Not too shabby.
He loved to laugh and clown around. He had a great laugh that was infectious. He was always throwing some girl in the boys locker room to embarrass them, or poking fun to get a laugh.
I remember thinking how cool he was to have a bullet bike, and my mom threatening my life if I ever rode on it with him.
No, Robert didn't always make the best choices, but there was a time in his life when he was just like the rest of us, trying to figure out his part in this world.

I remember having Chemistry with Robert. Robert was in love with Ilawna Gubler and didn't feel like he knew the right things to say to her. Sooooo.. Robert asked me to help write the notes to her. As I remember, I ended up writing all of them. He was so sincere and would tell me the jist of what he wanted to write. I had so much fun, laughing with him and writing- there was no stress on my part at all. I can't remember if Ilawna ever found out that I helped a lot w/ those notes!

I wrote to Robert while he was serving his mission. He also sent pictures, which I am sad to say I got rid of. He sounded like he was a great missionary, and was focused on serving the best he could. It took me off guard to hear about his passing, and I am saddened for his family. Robert really was a good guy who made a few tough mistakes, hopefully we can all learn from them. He is in a good place now reunited with family and friends, I hope he can reconcile his life to make it better! Blessings to Robert's family!
