Janell Beatty (Phillips)

For any of you girls who are in town over the Thanksgiving weekend, a bunch of us are going to lunch on Friday the 28th at 12:30 at Ted & Allen's in Hurricane. Let me know if you can make it so we have an idea of how many to plan on. We'd love to have you come! Annie, maybe you can give us showgirl lessons while we are all together so we can consider it an educational outing.

Annie Houston (Lindsay)

I would have loved to give show-girl lessons....but I didn't read this in time to make it to the lunch date. I will be passing through Hurricane in the spring, maybe we can work on our moves then!

Annie, I am looking forward to the showgirl lessons! Hey Kevin, there was a girl taking pictures at the reunion, any idea when we can see them? Just wondering.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
I figured this was the easiest way to reach you all. May each of you and yours get every good thing you have been working and wishing for this year.
Reading all of your bios has been so fun and made me remember that what we have in common is far more important than any circumstantial life differences we may have right now. We have had a great class and I am proud to have been among you.

Everyone keep Mona in your prayers. Her house just burned down in Henderson. She probably will be pissed that I put this on here, but I think we all love and care about each other and anyone that is in a position to do so, Please see what you can do.

Hey everyone, I emailed Mona, and she said that she lost everything. My sister Karyn and I are pooling our resources and we are going to get her some gift cards, so she can go buy whatever she needs. If any of you would like to contribute just email me and I will get back to you. If we all contribute even just a little, all of us working together can really make a huge difference! Thanks, Sharyn

I already have furnishings that classmates have offered to be taken to Mona. I would like to coordinate a load to go from Hurricane down to her in Vegas. I could also arrange one to go from SLC to Hurricane and then to Henderson from there. All you SLC people let's communicate and get things put together ASAP. I would like to see all this happen in the next two weeks.

We've got a couch, microwave, dishes, frying pans, queen headboard, and few other items that need to be transported from up north. Anyone else from up here that has stuff needs to coordinate with Kevin so it gets on the trailer, quick.

I’d like to give a shout out to Kevin (may he rest in peace) and like to thank him openly, (I'm not speaking for anyone else here) but for putting on a grand reunion and also everyone else that helped, because I couldn’t find the time, or didn’t want to…. He was always courteous and up front with me and it is sad to see him gone. Best regards to his family

Greetings class of 88,

I just got back from Kevin's viewing. Seeing him caused me to reflect on the memories I had growing up in Hurricane. As most of you know, I grew up most of my life in Hurricane, and I could not think of a better place to grow up. I had a lot of good times there, and made a lot of good friends. The death of someone you grew up with always reminds you of how time tends to pass you by, one minute you are 18 throwing your cap into the air and wondering what life has in store for you, and the next minute you are standing in front of a casket of an expected death of a childhood friend re-evalutaing your life. No, I'm not going through a mid-life crisis, even though I will be, like the rest of you, 40. But I do think that it is important to learn as much as you can through lifes experiences and try to make meaning of it some how, how it may pretain to you in your life.
I spent the last hour or so going over everybody's profile. Reading your profiles stirred up memories, that had long been dormate, that I have had with each of you, and I am grateful for those memories.
I still miss Robert, and still wish I could just call him up and talk to him, and joke about the good times that we had in school. I realize some of you have E-mailed me this last year, and I haven't responed, mainly because I am computer ignorante, but I do apologize for this. Sometimes the noise of life drowns out the more important things like responding to an E-mail from a friend. I am going to try to update my profile, with pictures, and I encourage each of you to do the same I just wanted you all to know that I was thinking about you all and hope the best for each of you and your famlies.
May Kevin rest in peace, and may his family get through the heart break of their loss.
Best regards,
Lance

Lance, thanks for the suggestions! Since I have been married (17yrs), I have learned how short life can be. Some people we love are taken from us expectedly and unexpectedly. So we need to treat each day as if it was our last. There's a saying a friend of mine once said, "don't judge people on their worst day." So in other words, we all have probably judged each other a lot over the years, and also other people. So let's begin today, in honor of Kevin, and start living the best life we can, and telling the people around us how much we love and appreciate them. I have lots of great memories with our class, and I am proud to say that I graduated from Hurricane High School class of 88! I have seen the generosity and friendships of this class, and I think all of you are great people. Keep in touch!

I am still in shock over the sudden loss of Kevin. Even after going to his funeral service, I can't believe he's gone.Kevin left me with some great memories. Some good. Like football trips and some he probably prefer I keep to myself.Which I will just in case his kids and Janel check our site. Not that it was anything that bad, just stupid kid stuff I can laugh about now.We both agreed over the years that it was all Larons idea anyway.I got a chance to talk with Janel, Her and the kids seem to be holding up well during these tough times.Even though we didn't always talk on regular basis. It was just like old times when did get a chance to chat. SHAMWOW! You will be missed, but never forgotten. Thanks for some good times and best of luck to your family.

I wasnt able to make it to Kevins viewing or funeral, but I had the chance to have lunch with Kevin and Charmon and enjoyed every minute of it. Like Thierry said, it was just like picking going back to HS. All the years disappeared. It is amazing how much we all have in common after 21 years even when we didnt feel like we had anything in common back in HS. The one lesson that I learned from Kevin's passing is that life is too short to worry about the past. We have to live for today. To all those that we saw at Peach Days this year, it was great to see you. Thierry, it was especialy good to see you and your wife and to spend a few minutes with you at the lake. I look forward to seeing you all in future.

I was saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. There are a couple of things that I will remember about him. The first is that I went rappelling off of the La Verkin bridge with Kevin and Clay Houston. It was my first time rappelling and I loved it. I was also with Kevin when the Quail Lake dam broke. We went to a New Year's Eve dance in St. George and after the countdown, they told us that the roads were closed. He also did a great job with the reunion and this website. I will miss him.

I haven't seen anything posted on this site about this, but I believe that Kevin's passing saved another life. Last week, Aaron Gifford had chest pains and got checked out because of Kevin. He went in for a quintuple bypass surgery the next day. He is doing well, and has been released from the hospital.

Hey guys,
Is anyone able to administer this site or was Kevin the only one with accesss? We need to get a memorial on here for him but I'm not sure what needs to be done.

Hi Everyone!

It's nice to see so many of you on here. I have enjoyed reading the past posts on the message forum and some personal notes that some of you have sent. It's nice to be able to reconnect with you!

I wasn't able to go to the funeral for Kevin, but really wanted to be there to support his family. They are good people who I have very fond memories with. My heart goes out to his children. It's tough to lose a parent unexpectedly no matter what age you are. I lost my dad just 2 years ago, and the hurt never goes away. But you learn to cherish the people you have in your life and never take anything for granted again. I hope that his family will be able to cherish his memory and grow even closer together through this experience. I'm glad I was able to know Kevin, and I will cherish the memories we shared.

On a much lighter note :) I thought that I would let everyone know in case you haven't heard that the Hurricane Football team is playing for the State Championship again this year! The final game is this Friday (Nov 20th) at Rice Eccles Stadium at 6:30 pm. I'm sure the team would appreciate all the support they can get from the Alumni that live up here. My nephew is playing, so cheer extra loud for Preston Beatty!!! (I don't know his #- I know....what kind of aunt am I right?) :)

Anyway, hope to see you there! GO TIGERS!!!!!

Kristi :)

Just letting you all know that the memorial page has been set up for Kevin and I do have access for the administration of the site. I also enjoy listening to all your comments. Kevin talked so much about all of his classmates that I almost feel like I graduated with you. Keep smiling and I hope you continue to enjoy this website.

Just a little of Kevin's spotlight of fame :)

we are already getting pressure from family members on husband's side about scheduling time the summer of our next reunion. Who did we vote was in charge of the next reunion and did we pick a date? I know it sounds far away, but dates fill up quickly if you are trying to reserve somewhere special....Who was in charge?

09/20/10 09:22 AM #38

Sharyn Christensen (Scholzen)

Ragun, I think Liz Zundel Takau was going to be in charge, but I hear that her family is moving to Tonga in 6 months.  So someone else may have to step up and be in charge.

Ragun,

Let me know if you find out any info on this.  I would be willing to help in anyway possible.
