Mary Anderson was incredibly bright and always was in the top 1% of our class. She will be sorely missed at the reunion and I was so sad to learn that she had died. I have very fond memories of her and what a great intelect she was. I remember well the day our final exams were posted in the old Medical School at the end of our sixth year. I noted that Mary Anderson had received the highest grade in Medicine. I readily found my name in Surgery and the other subject we took (amazingly I am not sure what it was). However I went into a panic as I could not find my name in the Medicine results. Then someone pointed out I was immediately below Mary.  Who would have thought. For this reason I have frequently wondered about Mary Anderson. I am confident she was incredibly successful in whatever field of medicine she undertook. I hope that those of us who do attend the reunion will reflect on the members of our class who are no longer with us.

Cannot agree more,David.

Not only was she as bright as you say, but had great insight as well as being more mature than most of us, especially yours truly.

I spent many a moment chatting quietly with her , not just on medical matters , but politics, family et al.

We were indeed very fortunate to have he as a colleague.

Look forward to getting together in 2016.

I remember Mary Anderson with great fondness. I met her during our first year of study at the main Wits campus. I remember how great she was at taking notes in an easily-readable cursive. I missed an Organic Chemistry lecture and she graciously lent me her notes. I copied them and laughed my head off: in addition to the important formulas and explanations she wrote down all the jokes from out Organic Chem lecturer!

I heard years later that she had severe back problems and could not walk.
