2019 UPDATE- Everything below is now in the past and has been for a few years. I am now single, living on my own. I still live in Kansas City, Missouri. I no longer race or ride bicycles. I left the foundation and teaching a few years ago.

I have had an interesting life and am happy... was mainly irresponsible in my 20's...having a wife and children made me responsible...i was blessed with gifts to work with youth and it is my life's calling...i taught nutrition for most of the 90's for the Univ. of Missouri and then was the Dir. of Technology for the Boys & Girls Clubs of GKC from 2000 to 2005...in 1999, I ruptured my achilles tendon and went from 190 lbs to 245 lbs...started riding a bicycle to lose the weight and fell in love with the sport...nowadays I am a consultant/contractor and do cycling programming and public speaking for schools, organizations and not-for-profits...I have been the first black man to speak to a number of the largest and oldest cycling organizations in the country
i am presently also a semi-pro bicycle racer...i won a $10,000 race sponsorship in 2008 from a national sports magazine... I now race for a local team, Colavita/Parisi and my two youngest sons also race on the same team...

School Story:

I remember some really silly stuff...me and Darren Blair had that radio program after school our senior year...we had a blast playing music and talking crazy in that little radio room...but i was never sure anyone was actually listening...i remember the track coachs hated us doing that program, cause we were always late to practice...i remember me and Tom Soetart doing some improv competition and winning the first time out, cause we were just really silliy together...i remeber how Coach Beson used to raise his leg unconsiously every time someone was practicing the hurdles during track practice...and Coach O'brien's socks would always be floppy...does anyone remember how we would play handball and the oldest person in the school, Coach Heyman would just kill everybody?
I remember having to have track practice in the hallways untill we finally got a track our senior year...and then we just killed teams after that...i remember leaving practice in the evenings and Mike Harper would have on orange shorts with long black socks and dress shoes...and the time Nate Robinson fell asleep with his face in the water fountain...geez, i could go on and on...anyone remember the Magnificent Seven?
