Moved to Atlanta Georgia in 1968 with Sterling Precision Corporation taking over a district that included Alabama, Mississippi, the eastern half of Louisiana and across the top Tennessee. Situated in Atlanta as an airline base traveled the Southeast. Favorite cities included Atlanta, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Memphis (Elvis Presley) Nashville along with many others.

This got me in the Southeast were I met my wife in Atlanta, Georgia. She is from Augusta, Georgia and eventually we moved there. Augusta is home to the most famous golf tournament in the world. Yes, we attended many tournaments through her family connections. To this day and living in Beverly Hills would love to move back to the south. If you have never been to Charleston, S. C. you are missing out.

Moved to Hilton Head Island in 1973 as a real estate agent then broker with the Sea Pines Company. Staying with Sea Pines Company till 1986 when I was selected as Broker in Charge of a new development on Daufuskie Island, S.C. just off Harbour Town on Hilton Head Is. From 1986 till 1990 helped develop Haig Point on Daufuskie. There is a book about Daufuskie written by the noted author Pat Conroy. There were only 5,000 people on Hilton Head when we arrived and purchased a home three lots away form the ocean for $24,500. Wasn't much but we all wish we had kept that old 1957 Chevy.

Next stop in 1990 to the west coast and Beverly Hills selling real estate with Coldwell Banker in Beverly Hills. Currently the President of the 6,800 member Beverly Hills/Greater Los Angeles Association of Realtors.

Chairman of the Board of Special Angel Inc. , a non-profit organization started in 1994 with my wife Suzanne and daughter Kelly. Special Angel works collaboratively with agencies helping troubled youth, using music to open discussion that educates, motivates and inspires positive changes.

Our 2 children and 3 grandchildren live in West Los Angeles and we plan on staying where the kids are. Even though I mentioned my other heart still beats for life in the Southeast.

Market is turning around so there is no reason to move after 23 years in the same location. martin.geimer@camoves.com.

January purchased a lake front home on Clarks Hill Lake in Thomson, Georgia just 30 minutes outside of Augusta, Georgia. For my wife and I it's coming home to where she grew up. We'll be there for her 55th reunion at Aquinis High School where James Brown and the Famous Flames played ONCE!! We look forward to making the transition over the next two years. One of my best friends through high school was Richard Dabolt and his girlfriend Joyce Valery both class of 1963. Our first guests to the lake from Aiken, S.C.

Moved to 5989 Rousseau Creek Rd., Thomson, Georgia 30824 on Clarks Hill Lake full time January 2020. Happy to get out of California after 30 years and back to the south just outside of Augusta, Georgia.

School Story

Kenmore West Senior High 1963
Bryant and Stratton, Buffalo

Parents: Martin and Marjorie
My parents married July 5, 1941 purchasing 66 Courier Blvd. for $4,150.00. Payments were $25.00 per month and renting the same home from the bank was $50.00. Banks took many homes back from builders during the war. Dad put down 25% taking a 7 year note paying it off in 3 years. One of the smartest men I knew.

Siblings: All of our names started with Mar including my parents.
My sister Marilyn, class of 1962, Martin Jr. 1963, Mark 1966 and Marlin 1976. Our oldest sister Marianne graduated form Mount Saint Marys. We walked to school rain, snow or just overcast. Most parents didn't drive their kids to school.

Neighborhood:
It was a wonderful time to grow up in Kenmore. We played in the streets, parks and school grounds never thinking it unsafe. We ate supper at 5:00pm, studied or went out later being home when the street lights came on. That is unless it was winter time.
We had a lady five doors down know as the Candy Lady. You rang her door bell and she would give you candy. Can't for the life of me remember what she looked like. She never invited anybody in, just loved the neighbor hood kids. I'm sure our parents knew her!!! Everyone knew everybody on Courier Blvd. The Geimers had 5 kids, Dabolts 7, the Burts topped it out with 17.
Mrs. Smith the mean lady at the end of the street didn't like kids playing in the street and always called the police. Namely her son a cop, later making Lt. Not sure he liked chasing us off the street but when his mama called he came right over.

School memories:

Walking to our local schools starting with Washington Elementary, Kenmore Jr. and Kenmore West.
First thing I remember is kindergarten and the knotted cloth rugs we took naps on later rolling them up placing them in our assigned slot. Sitting in a circle for story time, the area we hung up our coats, galoshes and fooled around in. Getting the Polio shot finding out later some of us received a placebo instead. The Monkey Bars in the playground, slipping off falling face first hitting the ice below. Kids telling my sister Marilyn that was her brother's blood trail in the snow leading back into the school. Needless to say she was horrified as she told me later. Covering our school books with grocery bags from the A & P Grocery store to protect those valuable assets of the school that were used over and over. These covers were a great place to write all kinds of things. The class rooms with three or four items that were present in all of them. The American Flag, pictures of George Washington, Abe Lincoln, the clock clicking off the minutes till recess.

For some reason Junior High passed without much of note to remember!!

Kenmore West was another story as there are so many wonderful memories to recall. Everyone seemed larger than life coming in as a freshman. This was reinforced later by this one junior/senior that lumbered up and down the halls. I don't believe he was into sports as much as lifting weights but should have been.
If he had been green, you know where I'm going!! I remember to this day wanting to go out for the football team and meeting Coach Yakapovich. He looked me over and suggested I get my 110lbs. off the field before I got hurt. I finally grew in my senior year but was a little late. K-West was a large four story with rooms that always seemed to be on the other side of the building. I didn't ever know there was an elevator in the school. I was told later you either had to be injured, a teacher or know and get along with the elevator operator to ride. Sometimes that didn't work!! A number of bio's carried memories of swim class. Yes, we were naked and and didn't make any difference if your mom wrote a note. There was no mercy or suits allowed. Later wondered if this was just a local custom or state wide. I believe it was a violation of our civil rights but them we didn't have any back then. We did as we were told/asked by our parents and teachers. As we found out later they were mostly right on target.
I believe we had some of the best and most dedicated teachers in our school system. The number of students becoming teachers on a variety of levels is a credit to their teaching. Not to leave out all the other high achievers we have in out class. Teachers that still stand out in my mind and in no particular order are Starr, Mooshie, Plumpis, Kruse, Schultz, Pavlakis, Patterson and Amo. The unsung hero of this group would be Mr. Michael Stark. You didn't want to go to his class on the first floor front. Mr Stark helped many a student on a better career path and carried a big stick or was it a paddle.
Part of this education and experience must be credited back to our parent's selection of the Village of Kenmore to reside in. They were considered the greatest generation and they created us. I believe this makes us a very special generation in deed. Marty

Hi,

Richard's and my family purchased their respective homes at 72 & 66 Courier Blvd. early on.  The Dabolts purchased in 1939 and my parents purchsed 66 Courier Blvd. in 1941.  Both of us grew up knowing each other for all of our 73 years.  Richard dated our classmate Joyce Valery through high school getting married shortly after graduation.  I considered Richard my best friend along with his whole family.  We double dated numerous times and remained close freinds till his passing July 1, 2019 in Aiken, South Carolina.  We saw each other recently since my wife and I purchased a lake home just outside of Augusta, Ga. an hour away.  Richard will be missed by many.

Monday morning walk with the Mayor of Beverly Hills and look who showed up. The amazing long distance swimmer Diana Nyad. The first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without the aid of a shark cage and at the age of 64. What an inspiration!!

Photo was taken on top of the Rockefeller Center Building in NYC August of 1961. I was one of 11 Explorer Scouts from Post 38 making a 454 mile canoe trip through the Erie Barge Canal. We started from the Town Of Tonawanda to the Hudson River giving a bottle of canal water to Governor Nelson Rockefeller. I was 15 and the youngest in the back of the photo in front of the Empire State Building.
