School Story:
My favorite memories surround all the plays and musicals in which I participated, especially Wizard of Oz; Peter Pan; Once Upon a Mattress; Pajama Game. Choir. Chinese Fire Drills on University Ave. Hot Shoppes after rehearsals. Ending the losing football streak when our JV guys played up the last game of the season!! AP Biology class. PTL. Being run out of the library doing homework when I got bored in World History class. Learning to drive on Old Randolph Road. Learning with Doree Watt that a green light at the Kensington Fire House to turn left from Connecticut onto Plyers Mill Road is not sufficient - you need a green arrow to avoid oncoming traffic! Walking to Wheaton Plaza before we had cars.
I was very active in opening my kids' new high school, James Hubert Blake, in 1998. A multi-year PTSA president, at one point, I ran into Joseph Monte, our old EHS counselor, when he came to promote a special MCPS program to Blake parents. I thought he was pretty old when I was at EHS, but he must not have been, since he just retired a few years ago!
