After about 25 years of Bohemian life and personal exploration (euphemisms for smoking, drinking and general carousing) I finally figured out what I wanted to do when I grew up- when I was 45 years old. I became Associate Director of Market Street Association in San Francisco. I had a hand in many downtown projects including the F-line historic streecars, Westfield Center (old Emporium site), Farmer's Market in Civic Center and Central Market Community Benefit District. I also produced public concerts on or near Market Street. I resigned 12 years ago to work on my own as a consultant , but was asked to take the music program with me! This season we produced 145 concerts, free and open to the public ,from The Pyramid Redwood Park to The Civic Center. I get to go to work every day and say "I'm with the Band"! I am so happy to be living and working in the heart of the City that I love.
I have a wonderful boyfriend Felix. We have been together 10 years and live in separate counties, SF and Contra Costra. Works fine for us. We enjoy travel near and far. It is a wonderful life.
I am rich in friends and family. I am close to my two terrific brothers and their wives. I have a New York/Italy group of friends and we connect yearly in NYC or Rome.
So far my life, with all its ups and downs, has turned out far better than I could have ever imagined when I was a student at MC 45 years ago.
Am I dreaming or did I have to weed the nuns' garden for something I did to irk the biology nun?
Remember the fruit fly genetic experiment, also in biology? I don't think mine ever procreated. And why did we have to slogg around in the slough before school one semester.
