When I graduated from Traip I went to work for New England Telephone and Telegraph in Portsmouth and I guess I thought that I would remain in the Kittery area. But I met my husband who was at the time a sargeant in the Air Force and stationed at Pease AFB. We then had assignments to Iceland, Germany, Ohio, South Carolina, the Pentagon and Florida. We held onto one of our homes in Florida with the intention of retiring there. And that is where you will find us today. And as Ed and I look forward to his second retirement in January, this time from Civil Service, we plan to travel again. This time just for fun.

The one thing that always comes to mind when I think back on my days at Traip is the assassination of JFK and where I heard the news. Our class was exiting Mr. Rodis' classroom. I had just crossed the threshold and the news came on the TV that had been left running when the bell rang. It was a surreal moment. With all the noise of students crowding into the hall the voice of the announcer somehow came through loud and clear and those of us who heard the news turned back into Mr. Rodis' classroom. I didn't realize at the time how much media would impact our lives. That in some small way we would become part of the history and always know the answer to "Where were you when Kennedy was shot?"
