HOWELL, RALPH E. - age 72, of Prescott, AZ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 surrounded by family. Ralph was the dearly loved father of two daughters, Lynne Johnson (Cal) of Marietta, GA, and Angie Sloman (Brent) of Birmingham, AL. He leaves behind two young granddaughters, Courtney and Kendall Johnson, as well two brothers, Jack Howell of Los Angeles, CA and Roy Howell of Phoenix, AZ, and two sisters, Margaret Fralix of Rock Hill, SC and Pat McReynolds of Phoenix, AZ. Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 28 years, Barbara J. Howell, his father Roy Lee Howell, his mother Evelyn Scarbrough, and his step-father Benton Scarbrough. Ralph was born and raised in Knoxville, TN as the eldest of the five children and was a veteran, having honorably served with the US Air Force prior to beginning his career as a salesman and business executive. He spent most of his life in Tennessee and Alabama until he retired to Arizona. As an active retiree, Ralph continued to enjoy playing tennis, hiking, and watching college football, and he found a love of camping and fishing as well. Ralph's deep faith in God and his love of family and friends instilled in him a quiet inner strength. Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 25th in Prescott, AZ at Ralph's church, Willow Hills Baptist Church. A Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 30th with at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, in Knoxville, TN, with Dr. Jerry Taylor officiating. Following the service, family and friends will travel in procession to Edgewood Cemetery for the interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willow Hills Baptist Church, 1071 Mogollon Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.
