1st TIME VISITORS

 First Time Visitors and FAQ's

Welcome to the East High School Class of 1956 website!  Thanks for stopping by and signing up.  First a word about the site...It is completely free and there will never be a fee to join or participate.  You can come back and visit as often as you like and my hope is that you will get hours of enjoyment browsing the site and connecting with classmates.  Your information will never be sold or distributed to advertisers and you will not be spammed.  If you have any issues what so ever with signing on or using the site please e-mail me at elizagouch@aol.com

Now, lets get you signed up!

First, click on the "classmate profiles" icon on the left tool bar.

  • scroll down to your name, click on it, and just follow the prompts to set up a profile.
  • no really, that's all there is to it!

Here is some advice.  On your first visit do not get overwhelmed with the whole "profile" thing.  I recommend that when you sign up, just put your e-mail address and your password and Birthday in and stop there.  At that point you are free to roam around the site and check out everyone else's profile and you can see what they have done.  You can come back then and put as much, or as little, as you are comfortable with.  I would ask that you consider putting a photo of yourself, your family, your pets, or whatever you are into on your profile.  I am sure when you go looking at profiles you will find the ones with photos are the most interesting.

Just a few more things before I turn you loose.

  • If you are in contact with anyone from our class please invite them to the site, or get me their contact info and I will send them an invitation.
  • If you are planning to attend the reunion please check the box in your profile that lets me and the rest of the class know that you are interested in attending the reunion, or parts of the reunion weekend.
  • If you are interested in the reunion please visit the site regularly as I will be posting reunion related info here.

Now go out and have some fun!

If you have any  questions or problems please e-mail me.

I want your walk down memory lane to be trouble free!

Now that I have a little more experience, I have found some "minds" require a little more detailed info......so here goes! (After more experience and some questions!)

NEW TO THE WEB SITE?
  1.   Find your name in the Classmate Profiles list
   2.  Create your profile
   3.  Click on Save Changes.  Done!  It's totally FREE!

You will need to create your individual profile in order to access the password protected pages and to interact with fellow classmates. Read on for complete information...
1.  This is my first visit. How do I log in?
Click on "Classmate Profiles," then click on your name to set up a free member account. Provide your email address, choose a password (which you can change at any time), tell us about your life since EHS, add photos, etc.. Profile questions you choose not to answer will not appear in your finished profile. If you click "Remember Me" when you log in, you will not need to log in next time you go to the site from that computer. However, you will need to log in when accessing the web site from another computer.
All classmates who have not yet logged in to the web site and created a profile automatically appear on the "Missing Classmates" page. Once you create your account with the site, your name is taken off the Missing Classmates page.
2.  Do I have to attend the reunion to use this web site?
The web site is for all EHS alumni to use, including those that were part of EHS at one time but didn't graduate with us. Guests can also be added as guest members; contact the site administrator for more information. Whether you attend the reunion or not, use this site to connect with classmates and have fun!
3.  Who has access to my "Classmate Profile" and personal contact information?
You can choose whether your "Classmate Profile" is publicly viewable on the web site (e.g., by other classes, friends, family, and the general public) or restricted to registered KNOXVILLE EHS Classmates only. If restricted, search engines and the general public will be blocked from accessing your Classmate Profile page. Check the "Profile Visibility" box at the bottom of your Profile page to restrict access.
You can also choose whether or not your mailing address and phone number are displayed; otherwise, only the city and state where you live will be listed. Check the "Contact Details" box at the bottom of your Profile page to allow Classmates to see your address and phone number.
4.  I forgot my login information and/or password. What should I do?
You log in with the email address you provided during your member account set up (include domain name, such as @aol.com). If you have several email addresses and cannot remember which one you used or if you no longer have access to that email address, click on "Contact Us" and provide your new email address. Our web site administrator will make the change and then email you a temporary password. Once you've logged in using your new email address and temporary password, change your password by clicking the "Change Password" link under the Member Functions menu on the home page.
If you remember your email address but you forgot your password, click on the "Forgot Password?" link right above the green "Log On" button and the web site will automatically email your password to you within a few minutes.
5What about privacy?
All contact information that you enter into this web site will be kept confidential. It will not be shared or distributed. Your information is private and your address and phone number can't be seen by the classmates unless you grant permission on your profile.
When someone clicks on your name they will only see your yearbook picture (if available), your city and state, and whatever other personal information you choose to put into your profile. Your e-mail address is never visible to classmates or accessible by outsiders.
You may choose to have your name removed. However, doing so will remove you from having access to this site and to your fellow classmates.
6.  How do I protect my email address from the public?
Your email address is only stored within the web site so Classmates can send you a Message.
Logged in Classmates will not be able to see your email address, even if you include it in your profile in the "Email Address" box. Even if you have it in your profile, the public cannot see it if you check the "Profile Visibility" box at the bottom of your profile.
7.  Can I be notified if other Classmates update their "Classmate Profile?"
Yes! Click on "Classmate Profiles," then click on the name of the Classmate you'd like to keep track of. Once he/she has registered, his/her profile will be displayed. Scroll down to the bottom of his/her profile page, click on the box that says "Notify me whenever [Classmate's] profile is updated," and click on the "Notify Me" button. You will be notified by email.
8.  How will I receive emails from the Knoxville EHS and from other Classmates?
Emails to the entire class will be sent to you from noreply@classcreator.net so please add this email address to your Address Book or your spam filter's Approved List. You can send emails to our web site administrator by clicking on the "Contact Us" button. We will reply as soon as possible.
A registered classmate may send another registered classmate a message by accessing the recipient's profile and entering the message there. The recipient will receive it when he/she clicks on the "Check Messages" button on the left, and will also receive an email with a link to the new message. Send yourself a message to see how it works.
9.  Can I post my own photos or videos on the web site?
YES! We hope you do! You can upload a current photo of yourself, your family, pets, vacations, old photos from days gone by, past reunions, etc. -- anything you want to share -- by clicking on "Edit/Upload Photos" under the Member Functions menu on the left. There is no limit on the number of digital photos that you can store on your "Classmates Profile" page. Each photo is automatically resized to fit your Profile page.
You can also upload your own videos that you've posted to YouTube.com by clicking on the "Edit Profile" link, then following the instructions (copy the Embed code from the YouTube video you wish to include and paste the code in the "Videos" box on your Profile edit page). You can add, delete, or replace your own photos or videos at any time. At this time you cannot upload videos from your camera that you have stored on your computer. You must first upload them to a site such as YouTube.com and then copy the Embed code.
10.  How does the "MOUNTAINEER TALK" work?
Click on "MOUNAINEER TALK" on the side menu and you can "talk" with our fellow classmates when they log in and read the "MOUNTAINEER TALK" So leave a message and then check back to see who responded! Post a response to a prior message or start your own topic of conversation by asking a question, re-living an old memory, or share your thoughts on life. The more Classmates that get involved, the more interesting and fun it becomes!
YOU don't have to "talk".....you can remain a "reader" if you like.....but YOU may be missing out on a lot of fun. And remember you can always send messages to friends on their profile page.......whether you know their email or not....privately or public.

11.  Who maintains the Knoxville EHS web site?
The site administrator for the Knoxville EHS web site is Beth Harrison Gouch...she is a graduate of the Class of 1956. Send questions, suggestions, or general comments to her using the "Contact Us" link. She open to all input from you! You may also receive e-mails from time to time from her......but not too often.

12.  Does Class Creator rent, sell, or in any way profit from having our Classmates' names, addresses, and personal information? How does it make its money?
No. Class Creator does not rent or sell any Classmate information or engage in any marketing or solicitation to Classmates. All personal contact information is held strictly confidential. Class Creator does not sell advertising on the web site or display banner ads or pop-up windows. Class Creator does sell domain name registrations to classes through its ClassNames.net subsidiary for $19 per year, but using that service is optional. I am seriously considering our own domain name rather than using the free one generated by Class Creator because the free one is extremely long and cumbersome....guess I was waiting to see if we grow the list BIGGER! LOL!
Questions? Click on "Contact Us”. You will get a "semi-quick" response. <g>
Remember to check the Home Page regularly for frequently updated information. I try to add new content a couple of times a week...sometimes more often.
Enjoy and have fun!
