Karen Gasson Maline

I attended the University of Florida where I marched in the Gator Band (Go Gators!!). I taught middle school social studies for two years (Southwest Jr. High in Lakeland & Union Middle Sch in Bartow) and then moved up to Washington, DC. I've been working since 1988 at the Justice Research & Statistics Association, a national private nonprofit research association. I got married in 1993 and now live in Alexandria, VA with my husband and two kids.

I moved to Lakeland my junior year of high school, and was kind of shy back then, so I don't have a lot of fun stories. My biggest regret is not joining the Dreadnaught band, where I would have made lots of friends. However, I was on the school newspaper, and went on a couple of great trips with Mrs. Jackie Bell. I got to go to London in 1978, and to New York City in 1979. Although I wasn't real active during my last two years of school, I'm still proud to be a Dreadnaught. Between all the state championships and wonderful teachers in the news, it's a great place to call my alma mater.
