Donna Reyes (Obado) Ching

Being an Army Bratt I've attended 8 different schools (Lanai Kindergarten and 5th grades) before graduating from Maui High. My senior year went for 2 classes then to MCC the 2nd half of the morning (Food Service). Then off to work at Woolworth from 12-9.

After graduation worked at Woolworth, Mauna Lani (pantry chef), and at the Kahului airport (Host International-cook). Yup...all at the same time.

Not to mention hanging with my friends at night driving home up to Pukalani as the sun starts to rise, catch enough shut eye to start another day. Crazy Woman!

Ventured off to Oahu and worked at a bank; then to Honolulu Shipyard where I found my passion with numbers. Been tinkering in the Accounting field for 25 years through various companies. Then Lehman Bros. disappeared off the face of this earth and construction went down hill. I was officially unemployed from the Marriott International Vacation Club (Ko'Olina Beach Club, Maui Ocean Club, Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, Kauai Lagoons) construction-finance dept 7/6/09.

My part-time fun job as a real estate agent just became my full-time job....

Oh...and also, I had 3 great kids in between all that. Jim, he's my partner that keeps me sane and planted on the ground. I tend to get myself involved with too many community/misc. projects and can be like a whirl wind at times.

Although I've been on Lanai for a short while I had a lot of fun memories and made lots of friends. Will only mention 3 school pals. I would love to say something about everyone but there's limited space:

Wesley Sakamoto my Kindergarten friend coming by my Grandma Obado's house to walk me to school. He never knocked, would yell my name from the bottom of the stairs over and over till my Mom would shoo me out telling me to hurry up, "the little Japanee boy stay calling me". Sometimes she didn't give me time to brush my hair.

Rocky was a constant pain. Yes, I mean "real pain" always pulling on my pony tail, punching me in the arm and running away.

Jonie and I had a lot of good times. She was my long time pen pal when I was traveling all over the world. I miss her mom & dad they were always welcoming.

My pidgeon was so bad coming from Lanai. When I went to Texas school they stuck me with the foreign language students to learn proper English. I couldn't understand what was going on... I WAS SPEAKING ENGLISH.
