Steven Ellis Smith

Haslett, Michigan

Age 76, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. He was born April 5, 1939, in Chicago, IL to Ellis M. and Grace (Stevenson) Smith.

Steven was a 1957 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1957-1960. After the Marine Corps, he worked for GM and retired in 1992 after 32 years.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathy (Sisco); son, Lance (Erika) Smith; daughter, Heather Smith; son, Scott (Patty) Gierman; and daughter, Shawndra (Chad) Burnham. He also leaves four grandchildren: Karli, Mason, Korbin, and Madison.

A casual memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at the VFW Hall Post #671, 12250 Old US 27, Dewitt, MI 48820.

Steven was inducted into Eastern High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010 for the 1955 State Champion Cross Country Team.
