Lansing Restaurants Closed
Reading the Lansing State Journal (online) finds that a couple of our favorite restaurants have closed, DeLuca’s and Leo’s Outpost. Don't know whether this is permanent. Maybe a '57 Classmate living in Lansing can let us know.
We met at DeLuca’a for a ’57 lunch July 20, 2021. We met for a ’57 lunch Leo’s Outpost August 22, 2019. A good time at both. See photos below.
FRIDAY, Sept. 24, 2021 — A popular Lansing restaurant is shutting down one of its locations. Leo’s Outpost, known across town for its pub fare and cozy hunting den atmosphere, is permanently closing its spot at 600 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Formerly at this location was DeMarco’s, a favorite for many years, which closed in 2000.
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Lansing Italian restaurant Deluca’s, located at 2006 W Willow Street, will be permanently closing after Saturday, November 6, 2021. DeLuca’s has been in business for 61 years and a place many customers call a staple for Lansing. The restaurant first opened and operated for many years as the Willow Bar.

’57 Classmates Lunch Tuesday, July 20, 2021
Tuesday, July 20, some ’57 Classmates met at DeLuca’s over on the West side. A total of 11 attended: Letha Collins, Barb Musselman, Linda Spry, Sue Mills, Judy and Bill Atkinson, Marilyn and Mike Kosloski, Marcia and Gary Hoskins, and Bill Thomas.
We met at 12:30, talked for an hour or so, had a lunch, then mostly broke up around 2:30.
It was casual, we were at two tables in the back of the restaurant. Havin’ so much fun I forgot to take photos - sorry about that.
We did talk about our mini-reunion gathering next month, August 21, at Coral Gables. Sounds like we need to firm up our arrangements, send out emails to our classmates - soon. Any questions, email Dawn Stiles.
We got a nice email from Nancy and Jack Morgan that they couldn’t make our lunch. They’re in Florida, hanging out at the pool and playing some golf.
Girls Lunch Bunch Tuesday, May 25, 2021
Tuesday, May 25 the Girls Lunch Bunch met at Coral Gables. A total of 14 attended, including a few guys. Attending were Dawn Stiles, Letha Collins, Carol Pride, Barb Musselman, Linda Spry, Mandy Lawton, Judy and Bill Atkinson, Marilyn and Mike Kosloski, Marcia and Gary Hoskins, Pat Davison, and Bill Thomas.
We met at 12:30, talked for an hour or so, had a lunch, then mostly broke up around 3:30.
It was casual. We were at two tables, we had intended on moving around to talk, but other than Mike, we just stayed where we first sat down. Letha had each of us describe one experience of our past crazy year. Fun, and many different experiences. We all had a really good time, lots of conversation and catching up on things.
We’re going to do this again, maybe even next month. Any interested in joining us?
Take a look at our photos. Remember, we're into our 80's now!

6-24-2020 Lansing Eastern High School Athletic Hall of Fame 2020 Induction Ceremony
Got a letter yesterday from the Lansing Eastern High School Athletic Hall of Fame that the 2020 Induction Ceremony will be cancelled due to the Covid-19 situation. This is a dinner event held in the fall every year. Maybe some of you attend this event. Our ’57 Classmate Jim Dorin is a HOF Board Member. The plan is to combine the 2020 inductees with the 2021, and schedule for the fall of 2021. Maybe call or email Jim if you have any questions.

Friday the 13th Casual Get-together 7-13-2018
Fifteen of our '57 classes plus a couple of guys from other classes came to our
Friday 13th casual get together at the Outpost on South Pennsylvania. These were: Dawn Stiles, Carol Pride, Mandy Lawton, Judy and Bill Atkinson, Marilyn and Mike Kosloski, Richard Dunham, Letha Collins, Ira Purchis, Jim Keyton, Jim Dorin, Donna Root Forbush, Jean Rammacher Spencer, Bill Thomas, Joe Malatinsky ('56), and Jay Lane ('58). Jay drove Jim Keyton to the lunch.
This is the same place we had a Friday gathering for our 60 years reunion last August. We met on the 'patio', which is kind of an open-air back room.
It was really casual, we all had a good time, and especially enjoyed Richard Dunham telling his stories, and Letha telling Millie Toogood stories.
We started at 2, ate somewhere around 3, then mostly broke up around 4:30.
Take a look at our photos.
Such a good time, we may do this again. We'll see if there is any interest. . .
