Obituary for Donald Woodman

Donald Louis Woodman, son of Glen William and Angeline Vanderlip Woodman, was born March 12, 1939 in Lansing, Michigan and departed this life on January 24, 2021 at James River Nursing and Rehabilitation in Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-one years, ten months, and twelve days.

On May 5, 1992 he was united in marriage to Marty Kay Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Tommy Wayne Scott, brother, Stan, and sister, Norma Jean.

Don is survived by his wife, Marty Kay Woodman; children, Glenda Staska and husband, Mark, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Erik Woodman of Champagne, Illinois, Chris Brown and wife, Rhonda, of Hulbert, Oklahoma and Angela Brown Mallard of Springfield, Missouri; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother, Doug Woodman and wife, Brooke, of Lansing, Michigan; 4 sisters-in-law, Melba Coday, Wilda Taylor and husband, Ken, Kathy Thomas and husband, Lowell, all of Springfield, and Cheri McKenzie and husband, Dennis, of Buffalo, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Don was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan where he graduated from Lansing Eastern High School, Class of January 1957, and then enlisted in the United States Army where he served our country faithfully for 22 years. He then moved to Springfield and worked at Zenith for a short time before going to work at the Ozarks Correctional Center near Fordland where he retired. Don was of the Baptist faith and was Baptized on January 12, 2021.

In his spare time, Don enjoyed fishing, bowling, watching sports, gambling and he loved the Michigan Wolverines.

Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and a caring neighbor and friend.

We will always cherish the many special times we had together.

Memorial services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 in Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Mansfield. At noon on Friday, military honors will be provided at his final resting place in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
