Billy J. Sanders, age 76, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Dr. Mike Parris and Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the church. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Terry Townsend, Gabe Ramsey, John Maples, Pee Wee Robbins, Bill Barron and Dale Spillars. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church Building Fund. Born March 7, 1939, in Greenfield, Tennessee, Bill was the son of the late Gardner and Thelma Galloway Sanders. He moved to Lansing, Michigan with his parents when he was 13 years old. After high school, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in 1959, transferring from Lansing, Michigan to Marshall, Missouri as Postmaster in 1979. He retired from the Postal Service in 1992 with over 33 years of service. In 1979, he married Lana Brandal of Ashley, Michigan who survives of the home.
Bill was an active member of First Baptist Church where he taught Adult II Sunday school Class for six years. He also served on the Trustees and Finance Committees and was the budget chairman.
Bill was an outdoor enthusiast and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Conservation Federation, Ducks Unlimited and the NRA.
In addition to his wife, Lana, Bill is survived by one son, Jeffrey Sanders and wife, Susan, of Charlotte, Michigan; one daughter, Diane Sorgenfrei of Huntsville, Alabama; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah; and one brother, Jerry.
