A man of faith and family, Ron Freeman passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the age of 66. He is now at rest in the arms' of the Lord.

A Lansing fireman for 25 years, he was born here on May 2, 1939. He died surrounded by his family: his loving wife of 44 years, Lois, and their three . children, Michael, Jennifer and Elizabeth, and his brother, Ray.

He was also a man of the outdoors and many of his happiest hours were spent in the woods and on the lakes of Michigan, hunting and fishing. He reveled in the quiet and natural beauty of his home state.

After his retirement, Ron and Lois traveled to Alaska in their R.V. For 16 years, they spent their winters in Texas Rio Grande Valley.

He was a member of South Baptist Church, the National Rifle Association, the Huron Rangers Civil War Shooting Club and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Ron's two granddaughters, Victoria and Jacqueline, are the children of Michael and. his wife, Sheila of Williamston. His daughter, Jennifer, is the wife of Craig Gleason of Holt and daughter, Elizabeth, the wife of Paul Gonyea of Beverly Hills, MI. His brother, Ray. and wife, Marcia, live in Chatham, MA.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2005 at South Baptist Church, 5250 Cornerstone Road, Lansing. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
