David F. Amato

David F. Amato, 75, of Lansing, Michigan passed away July 22, 2014. He was born on May 23, 1939 in Lansing, Michigan to William and Madeline (Clark) (Amato) McCrea. He entered the Marines after graduation and served in the 50th Special Infantry Company. David excelled at everything he tried, including building and photography. He loved working with motors, boats, and guns. He particularly enjoyed designing and racing boats. He was a skilled journeyman mechanic. David also had an amazing voice and a talent for cooking. He was a rare man and had the ability to connect with anyone. He will be greatly missed.
David was preceded in death by his father. Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife and best friend of 30 years, Patricia Amato; children, James (Wendy) Young, Margaret (Jason) Powell, and Robert (Angela) Young; grandchildren: James III, Gabrielle, and Warner Young, Collin and David Powell, and A.J., Madaline, and Chloe Young; great-grandson, Edward Woodruff; mother, Madeline (Amato) McCrea; brother, Brian (Teresa) Amato; and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Knights of Columbus Hall, 5300 N Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI 48906.
